Improving a Woman's Fertility
Face it, sometimes it just takes a while to get pregnant. This can be frustrating, especially not knowing why you are having trouble conceiving. If you don't have an underlying medical reason for the delay, there are a few areas you can focus on to help improve your fertility. Read more below.
First of all, were you on the pill? If so, it can take a while for your cycle to normalize. You may find yourself having heavier periods or lighter ones, and for varying lengths of time. If you've had the contraceptive injection, it can take up to a year to have regular periods. Interestingly, as soon as you go off the pill you are more fertile than three months after stopping the pill.
If you are a smoker, this is the time to quit. Not only does smoking jeopardize your health, but it can reduce the quality of your eggs and hurt your baby too. So do yourself and your baby a favor, get help from your doctor and quit smoking for life.

Men: Helping with Conception
If you and your wife are trying to conceive a baby, there are things you can do to improve the quality and quantity of your sperm. This is an essential part of the conception process and should not be taken lightly. There are measures you can take to be sure your sperm is healthy.
Heat will prevent the healthy creation of sperm. Interestingly, it takes 100 days for damaged sperm to recover, that is more than three months! If sperm cells reach over 93 degrees Fahrenheit, they will receive damage and not function properly. If your wife is trying to get pregnant, avoid saunas and hot tubs. Put away the briefs and wear boxers to avoid overheating. Try not to drive for long distances, and believe it or not, never place your cell phone between your legs while driving.
Exercise moderately and get plenty of rest to keep your body in top condition. Excessive exercise lowers your sperm count, so maintain a healthy but moderate exercise plan. Avoid alcohol, which will interfere with testosterone secretion and lower your sperm count. Cigarettes will reduce your sperm count and will increase the risk of genetic problems in your baby. Caffeine will reduce sperm motility and lower your sperm count.
